Everything 1920's, The Great Gatsby and Art Deco styling: vintage parties by Itsy Bitsy Vintage.

Phew, we've enjoyed a busy couple of months working with a range of clients wishing to add a bit of vintage Va Va Voom to their celebrations. Whilst some budget savvy brides have taken advantage of  hiring directly from us and styling themselves, we can't help but enjoy the process of being involved in a themed event and working closely with our clients to see their vision come to fruition. Styling is such fun! None more so than our recent wedding work for the lovely Andrew and Alison who married at the Midland Hotel on May 3rd.

'Lovely ladies, WOW! You really are worth you weights in gold, I love you to pieces. Thank you so much' - Alison.

Such an amazing wedding and we're chuffed to have been part of their day

'Where do you start when you want to pass on what I would call a "Tip of Glory" so that people stand up and listen...

When we decided that we wanted to hire some vintage china for our wedding at the Midland Hotel we found Itsy Bitsy via an Internet search. I was so impressed by their website that I decided I wanted to surprise my fiancé by asking them to also dress the room for us in true 1920's style.

My bridesmaid and I made a trip up to Lancaster to meet the lovely ladies and spend an amazing afternoon eating rather delicious cake and drinking tea discussing such exciting, inspiring, creative and amazing ideas for the room.

They understood my budget restraints and offered ideas which fitted perfectly. We worked together with ribbons I was able to purchase in China and also feathers I was able to obtain. They created magic with these assists. I was able to just leave the rest of the room design to their amazing props and expertise and at no time did I not feel 100% confident they would be able to dazzle my Fiancé and of course all my guests. They just did everything taking away any pressure, it was inspiring and delightful.

They worked so hard for me the night before the wedding, still there much later that we had planned ensuring everything was perfect. As a little bit of a perfectionist myself this was such a rare treat to know they understood how important the look of the room was to me. However it was obvious they take complete pride in their work and every job is treated individually and with real love and care.

Just to add to their amazing ability they are totally lovely and for me this really added to the experience of working with such lovely people when planning my wedding.

I recommend you meet these ladies, their props, they amazing ability and of course their cake!!!'

We loved working with Alison who had such a creative and fun vision for her day as a 1920's prohibition themed celebration. She hired our services as stylists to help create the key details and touches to the room decor which would bring this period to life. Furthermore she hired us in secret to surprise her husband to be on the big day! What's not to love about the hedonistic period of the Beautiful Young Things, the Jazz Age, and the Flapper? Illicit parties, Speakeasy clubs and Moonshine? As always the Midland Hotel lent itself  brilliantly to a large vintage affair, lending Art Deco detail and an incredible period atmosphere. To all our delight, Alison and Andrews' wedding has just been featured on the wonderful 'Love My Dress' wedding blog, our favourite inspiration blog for vintage styled weddings!  For the full story of their day visit Love My Dress

Itsy Bitsy Vintage created some bespoke items for this celebration including Ostrich and Peacock feather chair ties, Midland Moonshine beer bottles and musical paper flowers. All now available to hire. We thought the feathers and flowers looked great and would be perfect as alternative period centrepieces for future Art Deco inspired weddings.

Alison chose a gorgeous pale jade1920's inspired wedding dress and her entire outfit - dress, jewels, bouquet, everything was designed by Lucia Silver and created by The State of Grace . We had the good  fortune to be working again with the talented photographer Tobiah Tayo who took these amazing wedding photos of the couple, their day and their guests. To see more photos of their day visit www.tobiahtayo.com. We really hope to be working alongside Tobiah again soon.

Many thanks to Beanphoto for his photos of our styling details.

It has been excited to be working alongside the Midland Hotel during it's 80th anniversary year, and were delighted to have been invited by the organisers of 'Vintage by the Sea' in September (including none other than the design couple and re-known Vintage Festival curators Geraldine and Wayne Hemingway) to take part in their photo launch for this prestigious event.

Fingers crossed you will be seeing more of Itsy Bitsy Vintage as part of this amazing weekend, we're keeping our fingers and toes crossed! The Midland will be celebrating with a themed Torch Club Ball,  period tea dances with dance tuition, and an exciting Vintage Marketplace and Beauty Salon where you can buy all your outfits in preparation for dancing the night away.  Book your tickets now, this is a key event in the Vintage Calender, and local Morecambe boy Wayne Hemingway, would love to see lots of local folk participate and enjoy the celebrations.

To top it off, and keep the 1920's theme going strong this year, we have just seen the release of the film The Great Gatsby. A special screening will be taking place at the Dukes Cinema on Friday 7th June with vintage stalls, period music and dancing. Come dressed in your 1920's outfits to enjoy this amazing film (orchids, macaroons, and cloche hats, Ahhh, what a visual delight!) Itsy Bitsy Vintage will be taking part with a display of our ever popular period props, and maybe a pastel macaroon or two made by the talented Kath Jones of Madam Chocolat. Even if you have seen the film already please pop by for a drink and say hello.

One half of Itsy Bitsy Vintage can also fully recommend the HSBO series, The BoardWalk Empire' having sat through an entire two series under the guise of styling research!
