Merry Christmas Everyone! (Vintage weddings in Lancashire)

Carole and Carol aka Itsy Bitsy Vintage wish all our likers, followers and clients past and present a very Happy Xmas! Thankyou for supporting our new business in 2011 and we hope that you'll stay in touch for further vintage inspiration and vintage wedding styling throughout 2012. We especially look forward to  providing some stylish vintage Va Va Voom to your special occasions and celebrations.

(now there's a scary vintage santa if ever there was one! You wouldn't want him climbing down your chimney tonight!)

An Itsy Bitsy Vintage Christmas! Vintage baubles and reindeer!

Vintage baubles and decorations bring back such a huge sense of nostalgia for our Christmas's past, we can almost transport ourselves right back to the excitement and wonderment of our childhood. As children of the 1960's, and both born in December, two little Xmas Carols', we're now astonished how scary some of these decorations were. Before the days of health and safety gone mad and lead free paint, we were surrounded by hand painted glass baubles, over heated dickensian lantern Xmas tree lights, and tiny Xmas trees spotted with fake snow. It's so lovely to see that some of the less scary decorations remain and are indeed being treasured again. Although often smaller in scale than our modern day decorations, they bring a wonderful touch of glamour, nostalgia and whimsy to our 21st century Xmas. Pile together collections of hand painted baubles on a mantlepiece or in vintage glass bowls. Tie them to ribbons with a label for tablesetting place names. Hang them from coloured ribbons from the bottom of mantlepieces and shelves, or from a chandelier for an amazing impact.

Chandelier free, I shall be decorating my Itsy Bitsy tabletop Xmas tree with lots of lovely vintage baubles, as my mother did when we were growing up and as her grandmother did. It's my little bit of Xmas family history re-enacted and connects me with generations past. Treasure your collections too.

Winter weddings and celebrations + Vintage Winter Styling

There are so many winter styling ideas for using vintage china and props to help create a truly magical wonderland in your home and for your wedding. Be it decorating a mantlepiece or creating sumptious centrepieces for winter parties. Why not add a bit of vintage loveliness to your home simply to lift your heart and spirits on these cold dark days? Here are some of our Itsy Bitsy Vintage suggestions..

Group together a collection of crystal and cut glass vases, glass candlesticks, silver containers, fluted vases and silverware. A collection of white ceramic period vases holding winter twigs and berries would look fabulous grouped together, or each holding a church candle. Pretty perfume bottles each holding a single stem flower look simply gorgeous especially if grouped together on a vintage silver tray, or why not place a decorative silver teaspoon inside of each for something really different. Winter bunting can be created with a twist - using lace, paper doilies or pom pom snowballs. Or why not make love heart paper chains made from vintage sheet music or old books? Fairy lights can be twisted into the bunting to create that wonderland feel.  Old vintage bone china, especially those with a lovely gilt decoration or pearly lustre, work wonderfully well as candle holders or stack several teacups together to create twinkling towers. A glowing teapot also adds a focus to your room. Simply add an led tealight.  Pearl and crystal necklaces can be draped from candlesticks, floral displays or out of a teacup. The sky's the limit!

If you're considering having a winter wedding or celebration in 2012 consider Itsy Bitsy Vintage for your styling and china needs. We can work with you to create inspiration boards and design ideas for you to start your own diy projects. Or let us create your bespoke winter bunting and displays. Let us light your way and warm the cockles of your heart!

Vintage cake stands and bunting! (Vintage weddings in Lancashire)

Well it's a grey day outside, the days are getting shorter, we've had our first open fire of the season and I'm permanently wrapped in a blanket (don't you just love Autumn and Winter? ) Actually I do, Carole & I are both Winter born Itsy babies, but I thought I would post a little Itsy Bitsy Vintage ray of sunshine today with a some pictures of our cake stands and bunting for hire in Lancashire. They go together like peaches and cream, fish & chips, Laurel & Hardy, kisses & cuddles, sugar & spice and all things nice.. Aren't they just lovely?

At Itsy Bitsy Vintage we're busily in the process of making two, three tier and teacup topped cake stands, enough to cater for a party of 100 people. We're like little vintage elves. Along with our existing and growing collection of single tier cake stands, you can offer cakes galore. Just get baking, add the bunting and hey presto, a party!

I'll be posting some Xmas vintage inspiration boards next time. Remember, be a responsible china owner, china isn't just for summer, it's for life!

New Launch! Vintage inspired accessories from the Peggy & Lena range and Peggy & Lena parties.

Peggy & Lena Accessory launch at the Morecambe Seaside Festival 10th/11th Sept. Please visit us at The Vintage Fair, The Platform, Morecambe. Saturday midday-5pm, Sunday 11-4pm.

Peggy and Lena were our much loved Grandmothers.
Peggy was a Lancashire mill worker and had, some might say, ideas above her station. She had a fondness for sumptuous satins, lace and other fancy bits and bobs. Peggy was also a thrifty woman who loved to sew and made all her own clothes, cushions and curtains, but she always drank tea from a china cup and saucer.
Lena on the other hand, from a wealthy suburb in the West Midlands, had a ‘bob or two’. She had a vast range of handbags, scarves, costume jewellery and hats. Lena loved to dress up whether cleaning, shopping or attending a party. She loved brightly coloured fabrics, bold prints and large glittery brooches.

The Peggy and Lena collection reflects the personalities of our two grandmothers'; a combination of the romantic imagination and creative thriftiness of Peggy and the decorative and colourful extravagances of Lena. The collection features genuinely vintage dress fabrics, buttons and brooches from times gone by; each piece is unique and lovingly made by hand.

Please visit our 'Accessories' tab for pictures and prices of our current Peggy & Lena range. We will regularly be adding new handmade stock. Don't forget we can also create bespoke pieces for any special occassion, just email peggy&
to see how we can help further.

Elsa's Baby Naming Ceremony

Itsy Bitsy Vintage China Hire was delighted to have provided the vintage styling for a baby naming ceremony last Saturday  when proud parents Rachel & Callum officially welcomed their gorgeous baby girl Elsa into the world in front of family and friends. The venue, The Gregson Centre in Freehold, Lancaster, saw itself transformed and prettified with lots and lots of bunting and flowers.

The Gregson, a multi-purpose community venue, well used and well loved, normally plays host to a range of music events, discos and toddler groups. A little worn around the edges perhaps , but nonetheless a friendly and budget venue for anyone seeking a large space to hire. My lovely client Rachel, was referred to me by Catherine from 'Flowers by Catherine' (thanks Catherine!) and lo and behold, Rachel & I had been freehold  neighbours and acquaintances for many years. So it was with this ease of familiarity that Itsy Bitsy Vintage China Hire undertook to meet with, and provide delivery of a simple package of vintage items to help transform the space. Rachel definately knew she wanted lots and lots of bunting and also to create a focal point for the ceremony, which she cleverly created with a flower display using Itsy Bitsy Vintage teapots, and a large embroidered tablecloth. She finished the look with individual roses in her own teacups, don't they look gorgeous? We also provided cake stands for mini cupcakes, lots of small china cake plates and a couple more vintage tablecloths on the food and glass tables. Later on in the day the room was rearranged for a buffet and disco, and every table enjoyed it's own flower filled teapot.

A DIY celebration par excellence, bought in on a budget, but full of personality and warmth. Welcome to the world Elsa!

Thankyou for the following testimonial Rachel, a great recommendation for Itsy Bitsy Vintage China Hire!

'My partner and I decided we would like to celebrate the birth of our daughter, and welcome her into the family with a naming ceremony. We wanted to have a joyous occasion without spending a vast amount of money. I was so pleased to discover Carols service. Right from the start Carol was her usual warm and friendly self. I had been concerned about my modest budget but Carol had some fantastic ideas which really added impact without adding budget! Our venue was the Gregson which is a lovely space but a little faded, however the bunting and china transformed it. So many guests commented on how beautiful the room looked, and I loved the fact the room looked so individual. I'm not too keen on things looking too matchy-matchy and I think Carols' beautiful things made the space look glamorous and intimate.
Carol offers a very professional service, the china, tablecloths and bunting were of stunning quality and collection and delivery were easy. My partner had thought I was a little bonkers ordering so much bunting, but he had to eat his words on the day!
Jonathan of Beanphoto took some amazing photos of the day and the most gorgeous photo of my baby girl, which takes pride of place in my home now. Fantastic mementoes of a great day.
I would highly recommend itsybitsyvintage, and I have to say that my favourite part of the preparation was enjoying a cup of tea with Carol whilst picking out the beautiful china'
